The Dogs

Pierre Bonnard (French, 1867-1947), The Dogs, 1893, Lithograph in black on ivory wove paper

We’ve started the search for a new furry family member! Though the husband grew up with a Lab, and I grew up with English Cocker Spaniels, we’re considering starting a new tradition, and are looking for a Miniature Schnauzer. They’re supposed to be great apartment dogs, spirited and playful, yet sweet and fairly relaxed. This weekend we’re meeting our first schnauzer—now to decide if the breed is for us!

  1. Bonnard manages to capture the personality of each dog with just a few energetic lines.

  2. Grampa and Carolyn

Well, you and Andy helpfully assisted us in selection of Sherlock and that turned out great! Diana loves her pair of King Charles Spaniels and she is enjoying them after experience with several breeds but it would be hard for Carolyn and I to consider another breed. Sherlock is such a pleaser like Johnny was and we are spoiled! There is a large variance in personalities within breeds in addition to their “hard wired” breed behavior so after choosing a breed with characteristics you want you still have to select a pup with the desired personality. Keep us posted on your progress.
